 |
Louise
Roy, CEO |
Just
recently, on 20
March, and just
in time for spring,
the new look of
the 1st World
Outgames was unveiled
at a press conference.
More than thirty
local journalists
turned out at the
Delta Centre-Ville
Hotel to witness
our brand new advertising
campaign “We
Play for Real!”
Check it out for
yourself!. Remember
that the 1st World Outgames is
the largest LGBT
event ever, celebrating
sports, culture
and human rights.

Starting Line!
A
Winning Combo: New
Partners!
“The
1st World
Outgames are proud
to announce the
addition of CGI,
Speedo, Envers and
Mikasa as new partners,”
said Ms. Louise
Roy, speaking at
a press conference
on 20 March. “The
CGI Group Inc. is
the eighth largest
independent information
technology (IT)
and business process
services firm in
the world.”
Equally
big is the news
that Speedo will
be producing an
athletic collection
sporting the Outgames
insignia in collaboration
with Signa Marketing
Inc. In addition,
Envers and their
designer, Yves Jean
Lacasse, will create
an exclusive collection
for the event. The
press conference
also had good news
for athletes: Mikasa,
known the world
over for the balls
used at the Olympics
and world championships,
will be the official
supplier to the
1st World Outgames
for its sporting
competitions in
basketball, handball,
volleyball, beach
volleyball, soccer
and water polo!

The
Out Trilogy!
Fabulous
"Don't Miss"
Shows!
Three
incredible shows
are awaiting you
at the 1st World Outgames!
In step with the
aquatic sports competitions,
the Figure Skating
and Dancesport competitions,
these shows bring
out another side
of sport. FUN!

With
its theme “Outrageous
– Flamboyant”,
the Out-Splash! aquatic show, which
includes a team
competition, promises
to be as much fun
for the spectators
as for the athletes.
Athletes registered
in a team have the
chance to present
a choreography,
which will be evaluated
on a number of criteria.
The three best teams
will be selected.
Check out our web
page for up-to-date information and regulations.
Carnivalesque and
festive, this show
guarantees a refreshing
splash from the
ordinary!
With
the idea of a “Mascarade
on Ice”
the ice-ballet team
of Montréal,
in collaboration
with the 1st World
Outgames, proposes
a unique, dynamic
and colourful show
on ice! A show of
masks, intrigue,
and surprises await
spectators with
invited guests and
original groups
that will bring
choreographies reminiscent
of carnivals from
around the world
to the ice!
The final show of
the Dancesport competition
brings to life the
theme “Dancing
in Film”,
for its Grand Ball
soirée. This
show will be as
rich in colour as
it is in memories,
as the different
choreographies bring
historic film dance
moments back to
life. On the programme
you will find enchantment
and dynamism, interpreted
by passionate dancers
in vibrant performances.
Tickets
will be available
in May 2006.

Valentine's
Day saw a high performance
swim squad of 19
from Northern Wave
Swim Club head to
Holland in search
of fun! It was Upstream
Amsterdam's 10th
Anniversary celebration
swim tournament.
A special heart-warming
occasion with four

the plunge! Sadly,
they didn't find
love - ah - though
they did all win
medals for their
fantastic performances
- three in one case!
In total, the Manchester
swim team won 19
individual medals,
silvers in the freestyle
relay, and set 20
club records! Proud
Manchester at its
Best!
As
if this wasn't incredible
enough, their top
female swimmer,
Lizzie Bellinger,
won a special tournament
award for achieving
the closest time
to an Olympic record
for the 50-metre
Freestyle. Lizzie
is the first woman
to win this award
in 10 years! The
award was presented
by the Dutch world
champion swimmer,
Marleen Veldhuis.
With international
coverage both sides
of the Atlantic,
Lizzie is an inspiration
to women everywhere.
An outstanding achievement!
Well done!
