More than 4,000!
As of the first week of April, registrations for the Outgames have gone beyond the 4,000 mark, with a significant increase in registrants from the United States, with teams such as Team Palm Springs and Team Dignity signing up for the Outgames. We have also seen an increase in registrations from the United Kingdom.

USA Registration Week – 29 April to 8 May 2005

Visiting our Cousins in France...
From 3 to 8 May, as part of the Various Voices Paris 2005 Festival (a gathering of European LGBT choruses), Montréal 2006 will have a special registration offer for residents of France. The Canadian Embassy and the Délégation générale du Québec in France will be hosting a VIP cocktail on 4 May at the Espace culturel canadien on the Esplanade des Invalides, with many political figures and other organisations in attendance. Our media partners in France are Pink TV, Préférences Mag, Je Mag, CitéGay and Le GayParis.

The evening before, the Délégation générale du Québec in Belgium will offer a VIP cocktail to representatives of sports teams and other organisations, with the presence of several Belgian political figures.

The Outgames team will then be heading for one of the largest annual women’s volleyball tournaments, which will hold its 17th edition in Leuven, Belgium. Some 54 teams will be attending this tournament and many have expressed great interest in the 1st World Outgames.

Colourful Performances Planned for 2006
The 1st World Outgames Montréal 2006 will have you in the heart of the action! The sport committees for figure skating, swimming and Dancesport are preparing three shows unlike anything you’ve ever seen! The shows are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, 4 and 5 August 2006, respectively, at the Olympic Park and will provide a colourful and dramatic finish to activities in these three sport disciplines.

Partnerships: Dragon Boat and Cycling
Montréal 2006 now has two new partners to assist in the preparations of the Outgames: the Festival international de bateau dragon de Montréal (FIBDM) and the Mondial du vélo.

The Mondial du vélo is renowned in the international cycling community for its organisation of major cycling events in road racing, track racing, world cups in mountain biking, Canadian cycling championships and the management of a national training centre in Bromont, Québec. This partnership is an important addition to the Outgames sports team and participants are sure to enjoy quality competitions in cycling.

Finally, our family is growing with the addition of the CAMO Diving Club of Montréal to the Diving Committee of the Outgames. CAMO is one of the pillars in the development of sport in Canada, with member athletes like Émilie Heyman and Alexandre Despatie. It brings invaluable expertise to the table, and its contribution will be key in organising top-quality competitions at the Claude-Robillard Centre, which is also where the club trains and where the national diving centre is located.

Ceremonies and Cultural Activities
Groups registered for Country Western Dance, Square Dance, and the Choral Festival will play a special role in the Opening or Closing Ceremonies as part of a group choreography presentation. This performance before 55,000 spectators at the Olympic Stadium will be the first time in the history of the LGBT movement that such a performance will be broadcast to the general public around the world when Radio Canada, Canada's National Public Broadcaster, televises the ceremonies, which will then be re-broadcast around the world throughout its international network.

Square Dance and Country Western Dance
We are pleased to announce that Square Dance events will feature the talents of the following well-known callers: Anne Uebelacker, Don St.Jean, Tim Crawford, Don Moger, Bill Eyler, Nick Martellacci, and Todd Fellegy

Already more than 200 participants have registered for cultural activities.
