The 1st World Outgames endorses a healthy and fair approach to sports training and competition. Sport events in the 1st World Outgames are sanctioned by provincial, national, and in some cases, international sports governing bodies. In order to adhere to the rules of these sporting federations and to guarantee that the Outgames are run in a fair and just manner, GLISA and the Outgames have adopted the policy as set by the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES), and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Consequently, all athletes competing in the 1st World Outgames must adhere to GLISA’s position on drugs in sport and may be required to undergo drug-testing. We encourage all participants to become familiar with this policy.
The objective of the 1st World Outgames in this regard is to provide an experience where all athletes are able to compete in a safe and welcoming environment, without discrimination of any kind. Our priority is to find the appropriate balance to ensure that no person, regardless of their birth gender, is disadvantaged in athletic competition and at the same time that no person participating in the Outgames experiences discrimination.
GLISA and the 1st World
Outgames have collaborated so as to develop a
policy that reflects this balance. We encourage
all participants, especially those who have identified
themselves as ‘transgender’ in the registration process, to become familiar with this policy.
The individual competition will have 4 distinct divisions that are A-B-C & D divisions in men's and A-B-C & D in women's. The competition format will be stroke play for players in A & B divisions and stableford for players in C & D divisions.
The first day of competition will allow to separate the participants in divisions. During this first round, players will have the possibility to play with the players of their choice. During the second day, participants will be grouped by divisions depending on their first day's results. Participants will play both rounds on the same course.
Shotgun formula will be used and tee times are planned at 7:30 and 14:00 for both days of competition. The detailed schedule of the competition will be available after the close of the registration period.
Players compete within the division that corresponds to their playing ability at the time the competition will be held. For classification purpose, each player will be given a handicap.
Players that already possess an official handicap must bring to the Organizing committee a proof of their handicap with an attestation from their golf club. Players that doesn't possess an official handicap will be given one by the Organizing committee according to their first round's performance. For that purpose, the Callaway classification system will be used.
Score cards will be distributed to all foursomes on each day of the competition. Each foursome is responsible to complete its card. Once completed, the score card must be signed by each golfer and submitted to the designated competition coordinators.
