The Country Western Dance is a cultural event
that will entertain and delight participants in
and visitors to the 1st World Outgames
Montréal 2006 with their skills and showmanship
during the numerous activities that will be held
over the 7 days of the Outgames.
Recreational
Dance Participants may take
part in the many Recreational Dance sessions that
will be organised primarily at the Hilton Bonaventure
Hotel, at Club Bolo and at various 1st World Outgames activity sites throughout the 7
days of the Outgames.
Competition
Events
Competition Events will be held over 3 days and
will welcome participants of all ages and levels
of ability. These events are open to participants
with disabilities.
Exhibition
Dance
The exhibition dance program will occur in the
evenings mixed with the recreational dance sessions.

The event will be organised in collaboration with Club
BOLO of Montréal and competitions will be
sanctioned by The International Association of
Gay/Lesbian Country Western Dance Clubs (IAGLCWDC).

Three categories of dance will be offered for
Competition Events: couples, individual line dance and team
dance.
Registrants will also have the
opportunity to participate in additional performances
during the Outgames.
Specially arranged outdoor stages will be available
for exhibition performances during the Opening
and/or Closing Ceremonies and during the entire
week of the 1st World Outgames Montréal 2006. You can
indicate your interest in participating in these
additional performances by checking off the appropriate
box on the Country Western Dancing registration
form.
Couples :
Division V |
Novice |
First time
both partners are competing in any couples
competition. This division is intended for
the newer dancers. |
Division IV |
Beginner |
Have not placed first in the beginner
overall division (where three or more couples
competed overall). May dance in this division
for only three championship competitions. |

placed first in the intermediate overall
division (where three or more couples competed

Three dances will
be offered in each division. Participants may
perform one, several or all available dances in
their chosen division. The songs for each dance
will be finalised in the summer of 2005.
Team dance
:
Team performances will be divided
into 5 categories:
Solo Dance Routine |
A dance routine that
must be performed as individuals dancing
essentially nonrepetitive patterns according
to musical interpretation in any nonjoined
configuration; hands or bodies may touch
momentarily. Dancers may not join to create
a formation or initiate a turn or movement
throughout the routine. However, the intent
of partnership is allowed. |
Line Dance Routine |
Any routine that is
performed as individuals dancing essentialy
repetitive patterns in any nonjoined configuration.
Multiline configurations, straight line
configurations, straight line geometric
patterns, circles or arcs are allowed. Hands
or bodies may touch momentarily. However,
movements exhibiting partnership or partnership
intent are not allowed. |
Couple Dance Routine |
Any routine that is
performed as couples dancing together in
any joined configuration throughout the
routine except for: entrance, exit, separation
where partner changes are made, or a movement
is executed where the perception of partnership
is maintained. |
Medley Dance Routine |
Any routine that incorporates
two or three of the Team Competition Dance
Categories of Solo Dance Routine, Line Dance
Routine, and Couple Dance Routine. Each
type incorporated is to comprise no less
than one minute of the entire routine. The
emphasis in this category is on the combination
of these different dance types. |
Open Dance Routine |
This category
is to be considered "Open" for
teams desiring to perform routines primarily
for entertainment with significant dance
content. There are no restrictions on music
selection, attire, or dance style other
than the use of violent or vulgar movements. |
Teams may perform in one, several
or all categories.

Each participant in the 1st World Outgames
Montréal 2006 will receive a participation medal.
In recognition of personal achievement in Country
Western Dance, there will also be medals awarded
for first, second and third place in each of the
divisions listed above.

During the accreditation, participants from Canada will be required to show government-issued identification with a photo. For athletes from all other countries, a passport will be the preferred form of identification. Furthermore, every participant will be required to provide his or her participant number.
