2006: A Breakthrough in South America with Mix
Brasil
Montréal, 6 October
2004 - "Brazil's leading GLBT web site, Mix
Brasil has just become an associate sponsor of
the 1st World
Outgames Montréal 2006," Mr. Tom Czerniecki, Montréal
2006 Marketing and Communications Director, announced
today. "The sponsorship is valued at $250,000 USD.
The agreement with Mix Brasil," explained Mr.
Czerniecki, "represents not only a huge step forward
in penetrating the rapidly growing Brazilian market,
but is also a major breakthrough in the realm
of internet media exchanges."
MIX BRASIL
Mix Brasil (http://mixbrasil.uol.com.br)
is a Portuguese-language Internet portal that
offers the GLBT community in Brazil information
on and links to a vast range of subjects and sites.
It receives 1.4 million visitors per month and
will also act as a representative for Montréal
2006 in the region by disseminating information
on the 1st World
Outgames until 2006.
"We are particularly pleased to support Montréal
2006," said André Fischer, CEO of Mix Brasil,
"and to formalise the ties we have forged between
our country and Québec, with regard to many activities
that touch our respective GLBT communities."
The addition of Mix Brasil to the 1st World
Outgames' circle of sponsors brings the number
of international media partners to an all-time
high, and will allow Montréal 2006 to reach out
to the Latin-American continent where the GLBT
sport movement is experiencing a period of rapid
expansion. In collaboration with Mix Brasil, Montréal
2006 plans to work closely with existing Brazilian
sports teams as well as those currently in development,
of which over thirty have already been identified.
The Brazilian web site will also be the flagship
site for promoting the International Conference
on GLBT Rights in Latin-America. The Conference
will be held two days before the opening of the
Outgames in July 2006.
THE SUPPORT OF THE
GLBT MEDIA
"With this signed agreement, we have just realised,
in the last few weeks, a fundamental breakthrough
in our Internet marketing campaign," concluded
Mr. Czerniecki. "As of today, the total value
of media exchanges is $3.6 million USD - an unprecedented
number for a GLBT sport event - and Montréal 2006
is currently working on internet agreements with
sites in Europe, Africa and Asia. In addition,
with Société Radio-Canada as a sponsor of the
Outgames with its vast television network that
includes numerous broadcast agreements elsewhere
in the world, we can comfortably predict that
our event will be a truly international one -
as early registrations are already demonstrating."
