Partership
Agreement Between Montréal 2006 and LEGAYPARIS.FR
Montréal, 4 November
2004 – “Montréal 2006
is happy to announce a partnership agreement with
LEGAYPARIS.FR,
the foremost French tourism portal that welcomes
and provides information to LGBT visitors to France,”
Mr. Tom Czerniecki, Marketing and Communications
Director for the organisation, announced today.
Online since 1999, LEGAYPARIS.FR
receives more than 500 visitors per day. The site
provides all the information visitors need to
plan their stays in the city of Paris and in France,
along with announcements of cultural events, chat
rooms, and lists of restaurants and hotels.
“We are particularly proud,”
said Mr. Frédéric Alheinc, the President
of LEGAYPARIS.FR, “to be partners with the
1st World Outgames Montréal 2006. Not only
are there strong ties between the gay and lesbian
communities in France and Québec, but this
commercial agreement will also make an important
contribution to the success of a major international
event in 2006.”
LEGAYPARIS.FR will, among other
activities, promote registrations for the 1st
World Outgames Montréal 2006.
Currently, 240 French athletes have become members
of Club Montréal 2006, and have stated
their intention to participate in the 1st
World Outgames Montréal 2006. Of the 37%
of European registrations, it is clear that the
French delegation to the Outgames will be at least
as large as that of this year’s EuroGames.
French athletes and teams have signed on for the
Worldwide Registration Day for the 1st
World Outgames Montréal 2006, which will
be held on 13 November in more than 40 cities
around the world.
Air Canada, which has regular flights
between Paris and Montréal, is an official
sponsor of the 1st
World Outgames. Radio-Canada, Canada’s national
television broadcast network and a partner in
the Outgames, with ties to the French-language
television consortium TV5, will have live broadcasts
of the Outgames’ Opening and Closing Ceremonies,
as well as a one-hour daily prime time broadcast
of sport competitions highlights. The Hotel Association
of Greater Montreal, also a partner in the 1st
World Outgames, is able to guarantee hotel rooms
at competitive rates, particularly since the cost
of living in Montréal is, on average, about
25% lower than in American cities.
RAINBOW ATTITUDE 2004
Montréal 2006 will be in Paris for the
Gay European Salon, open to the general public,
which will be held from 4 to 7 November 2004.
The 2003 edition was a resounding success and
more than 40,000 visitors are expected at the
Porte de Versailles this year.
