World
Registration Day for the 1st World Outgames
Montréal, 27 October 2004
- "After contacting many LGBT sport teams around
the world, our ambassadors in almost forty cities
on five continents are ready to hold a World Registration
Day for the 2006 Outgames," Mark Tewksbury Co-President
of Montréal 2006 announced today. "World Registration
day will be held on Saturday, 13 November."
On 13 November 2004, Montréal
2006 expects to significantly increase the number
of registrations to the Outgames. Almost 700 people
have already registered, which is 15% higher than
the numbers originally forecast for the time period.
In all participating communities,
volunteers will organize activities to celebrate
sport, culture and rights in the context of the
2006 Outgames. Al the Early Registration benefits
will be available to teams and individuals who
register on this special day.
Montreal 2006 will be present
in cities on all continents, including well-known
cities in Europe like Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin
and Barcelona and, in the United States, Denver,
New-York and Seattle. And, for the first time
in the history of LGBT sport, cities like Shanghai
in China, Lagos in Nigeria, Lusaka in Zambia,
Karachi in Pakistan, Sao Paulo in Brazil, Montevideo
in Uruguay and Istanbul in Turkey have joined

1st World Outgames Montréal 2006 Organising
Committee is a not-for-profit organisation.
The games will be held from 29 July to
5 August 2006 with more than 16,000 participants
in the sport, cultural and conference
programmes. Thirty-three sports disciplines
will be represented during seven days
of competitions. Participants from around
the world and from over 100 different
countries are expected. Opening and Closing
ceremonies will cap off the sports competitions,
open to all. An international gay sport
and cultural "Rendez-Vous" not to be missed! |
