2006 Welcomes a Major New Sponsor:
Bell Canada Enterprises
Montréal, 25 April
2005 — “Bell
Canada Enterprises (BCE Inc.) has chosen to
become one of the corporate sponsors of 1st
World Outgames Montréal 2006,” Mr.
Mark Bruneau, Executive Vice-President and Chief
Strategy Officer of the internationally respected
communications company, announced today. “We
would like to promote the values that inform our
involvement in Canada’s communities by recognizing
the economic and cultural contribution an event
of this scale will make.” Mr. Bruneau has
also kindly accepted the Honorary Presidency of
la Nuit d’Or Gala evening on 1 September
2005, a fundraising gala for the Montréal
2006 bursary programme to benefit athletes with
limited financial resources.

said Ms. Louise Roy, Montréal 2006 CEO,

BCE as a sponsor-partner, at one of the highest
levels of contribution in the 1st
World Outgames sponsorship structure. Today, BCE

recognition, not only for our community, but also
recognition of the hard work that hundreds of
volunteers contribute to making Montréal
2006 a success.”

With the arrival of BCE, Montréal
2006 now has about fifteen private sponsors, in
addition to the support of the Governments of
Canada and of Québec, the City of Montréal
and some 40 media partners around the world. So
far, sponsors have invested a total 14 million
dollars, in cash, goods or services, in the 1st
World Outgames Montréal 2006. “With
just 18 months to go before the opening of the
Outgames,” added Ms. Roy, “we are
confident that we have the financial means to
make this event an incredible success.”

already received, the 1st World Outgames Montréal
2006 will soon be heading into the home stretch
of a marathon that began in 2000 and that will
culminate with the opening of the International
Conference on LGBT rights on 26 July 2006, followed
by the Opening Ceremony in the Olympic Stadium
on 29 July 2006, which will mark the beginning
of seven days of sport competitions and cultural
activities.

1st World Outgames Montréal 2006 Organising
Committee is a not-for-profit organisation.
The games will be held from 26 July to
5 August 2006 with more than 16,000 participants
in the sport, cultural and conference
programmes. Thirty-five sports disciplines
will be represented during seven days
of competitions. Participants from around
the world and from over 100 different
countries are expected. Opening and Closing
ceremonies will cap off the sports competitions,
open to all. An international gay sport
and cultural "Rendez-Vous" not to be missed! |
