Rendez-Vous Montréal 2006 Welcomes Labatt as a Sponsor

Montréal, 18 February 2004 -  "It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome Labatt Breweries as a partner of Rendez-Vous Montréal 2006," Ms. Louise Roy, CEO of the organization responsible for Montréal's gay and lesbian games, announced today at a press conference. "By becoming a sponsoring partner for three years, Labatt is making a significant gesture that goes beyond its financial contribution," Ms. Roy explained. "Labatt Breweries is setting an example of courage and leadership, both commercially and socially, to all private enterprises in Québec and Canada."

As a sponsoring partner, Labatt Breweries will be present and visible for the entire event as well as for related activities and communications programs for the next 3 years. Details of the agreement will be made public later this spring during a special event.

By signing this agreement, Labatt joins Montréal 2006's circle of supporting partners, including the Governments of Québec and Canada, the City of Montréal, Tourism Montréal, and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. These partners have all restated their commitment to Rendez-Vous Montréal 2006, which will be held as planned from 29 July to 5 August 2006. More than 16,000 participants will compete in thirty-one sporting events. As part of the cultural programme, Montréal 2006 has already signed an agreement with GALA Choruses, the world's most prominent ensemble of gay and lesbian choral singers with membership of nearly 200 choruses and 10,000 singers, to perform during the games with an ensemble of at least 1,500 choral singers. As well, about 2,000 participants will take part in an international conference on gay and lesbian rights just days before the Montréal games.

"The arrival of Labatt Breweries," Ms. Roy concluded, "marks the beginning of a commercial initiative that we have undertaken and, at the moment, we already are in discussions with other corporate companies to come on board."

The Organizing Committee of Rendez-Vous Montréal 2006, along with its employees and volunteers, would like to thank Labatt Breweries and welcome it to a dedicated team committed to Montréal's success in presenting the largest popular, sporting and cultural event ever to bring so many people together from gay and lesbian communities all over the world.
