Free
registration or up to 40% off registration fees
for Teams and Groups!
Montréal, 15 September
2005 – The 1st
World Outgames Montréal 2006 is launching
a special
promotion for sports teams and groups to make
registering for next summer’s Outgames more
accessible than ever. Special volume discounts
are available for certain team sports as well
as for groups of all kinds: multi-sport clubs,
dance or choral groups, or simply individuals
who register as a group to benefit from this offer.
The promotion will run from 15 September to 31
October 2005 and can give teams in certain sports
up to 29% off, and groups up to 40% off.
“This promotion will help
us to reach our goal of 16,000 participants well
ahead of our forecasts, and will make the Outgames
even more accessible to teams and groups. Teams
have told us that reduced pricing would help them
get their members registered sooner, and we have
listened. So we are launching this promotion to
make the Outgames as inclusive as possible,”
said Ms. Louise Roy, CEO of Montréal 2006.
Outgames
on a roll
“We have now reached the final stages of
planning for the 1st World Outgames in Montréal
in 2006,” Mr. Gérald Tremblay, Mayor
of Montréal, announced during a press conference
last week. “The Organising Committee and
GLISA [the Gay and Lesbian International Sport
Association], the international organisation in
charge of the Outgames, have all the budgetary,
logistical and security components in place to
ensure the delivery of a major event with the
enthusiastic support of all Montrealers,”
he added. “I am also very pleased and proud
to announce that the longevity of the Outgames
is assured, now that the city of Copenhagen will
carry the flame to 2009 and many other cities
have expressed their interest in hosting the 2013
edition. Once again, Montréal’s innovation
has set the example.”
The Organising Committee is confident
that it will attain its objectives and successfully
deliver an exciting and memorable event for the
LGBT community. “With already more than
6,500 people registered,” explained Ms.
Roy, “an impressive number of partners,
notably the Governments of Canada and of Québec,
the City of Montréal and Tourisme Montréal,
along with many sponsors and a solid team in place,
we now know that we will reach our goals in every
way.”
