Sport
disciplines
are closing.
Don’t
wait - register
now! Several
Sport disciplines
are reaching
their maximum
capacities!
The
1st
World Outgames
have seen a
major increase
in the number
of registrations
over the past
few weeks. Almost
half of the
sport disciplines
have reached
their participation
objectives.
In order to
ensure that
all participants
have a great
experience,
Montréal
2006 has established
limits on the
number of participants
for each discipline.
Once the maximum
number is attained,
however, participants
can still register
and be placed
on a waiting
list.
Montréal
2006 will give
priority to
paid registrations.
When the maximum
number of paid
registrations
has been reached
and there is
a waiting list
for a given
sport, the Organising
Committee will
explore the
possibility
of increasing
the number of
sites. Although
Montréal
is a city with
an incredible
selection of
sporting facilities
able to host
additional events,
the Organising
Committee is
strongly encouraging
participants
to complete
their registrations
as soon as possible!
Sport
disciplines
near maximum
capacity:
- Badminton
- Basketball
- Hockey
- Soccer
- Squash

Site
of the month:
Uniprix Stadium
- Jarry Park
Uniprix
Stadium in Jarry
Park –
An Internationally
Renowned Stadium
for the 1st World
Outgames Tennis
Competition!
The
first International
Tennis Championship
was held in
1981. In 1993,
Montréal
joined the privileged
network of nine
cities participating
in the tennis
star circuit,
followed by
a protocol agreement
in 1995 between
the City of
Montréal
and Tennis Canada.
The 1st
World Outgames
will be using
these international-calibre
installations
for its Tennis
finals.

Created
in 1925, Jarry
Park is one
of Metropolitan
Montréal’s
great parks.
Even in its
beginnings,
the park generated
enormous interest
among Montrealers.
After many years
of renting the
park from the
Jarry family,
the City of
Montréal
acquired the
park in September
1945.
By
the late 1950’s
the Montreal
Alouettes football
team were using
the Park for
their training.
The Montreal
soccer team
would join them
in 1966. By
1969, the stadium
of Jarry Park
would become
home to the
Montreal Expos,
a Major League
Baseball team.
Most importantly,
the Park has
boasted at least
20 Municipal
tennis courts
since 1956.
In
April 2004,
the Centre
de tennis du
Parc Jarry
became the Uniprix
Stadium. Jarry
Park now includes
not only numerous
outdoor tennis
courts, but
also the Uniprix
Stadium and
the Bell Pavillion.
Each year, it
welcomes the
Tennis Masters
Series and the
Rogers Cup.
