The

World Outgames
Montréal
2006 team has
been busy running
functions around
the world, attracting
participants
to its special
“Rendez-Vous”,
which will take
place from 26
July to 5 August
2006.
Los
Angeles, Sydney,
Melbourne, San
Francisco, Fire
Island, Provincetown,
Barcelona, Budapest
and more, the
Outgames are
leaving no stones
unturned in
its quest to
get 16,000 to
next year’s
event, making
it the largest
gay, lesbian,
bisexual and
transgender
sport and cultural
activity ever!

participants

Swim
for Life in
Provincetown
1st
World Outgames
Montréal
2006 was proud
to sponsor the
recent 18th
Swim For Life
in Provincetown,
Massachusetts
on 10 September.
The
annual benefit
for AIDS, women`s
health and youth
attracted a
record 375 swimmers
and raised a
record 150,000
USD. Beneficiaries
of the10 September
event include
Helping Our
Women, the AIDS
Support Group
of Cape Cod,
Outer Cape Health
Services, Cape
and Islands
Gay Straight
Youth Alliance
(CIGSYA), and
the HIV AIDS
History Project.
Participants
hailed from
across North
America including
a contingent
of a dozen swimmers
from the Philadelphia
Finns who swam
in memory of
Mark McCandless,
twenty swimmers
from LANES Swim
Team from Boston,
a large contingent
from Oak Square
YMCA in Brighton,
20 members of
the girl’s
swim team from
Wellesley High
School (pictured),
returning for
their fifth
Swim and our
very own Lee
Palmer (1st
World Outgames
Project Manager).
Close to 200
volunteers assisted
at the various
events over
the weekend. |

York Tour: The
team is pleased
with the results
The
Outgames team
hit the Big
Apple for a
whirlwind tour
of activities
last week and
is pleased with
the success
of the activities
held in New
York. The organisers
were particularly
proud of the
warm welcome
they received
from the Delegate
General at the
Québec
Government House
in New York
City, where
a cocktail was
attended by
many of the
city’s
team leaders.
They would like
to thank the
Delegation,
the Crobar,
Club Heaven
as well as the
GYM Sports Bar.
