Canadian billiard
champion, has
just joined
Montréal
2006’s
Athletes’
Circle. Ms.
Lafranchise
is a well-known
personality
both in Québec
and throughout
Canada. Last
June, she became
for the second
year in a row
the Canadian
Champion.

Inaugural
Delegate Congress
From
29 August to
2 September,
GLISA will be
holding its
Inaugural Delegate
Congress in
Montréal.
After just a
year and a half
in existence,
and unprecedented
success in attracting
members from
all five continents
— almost
70 so far —
GLISA is poised
to experience
many milestone
moments. An
executive committee
will be democratically
elected, and
certain rules
will become
part of GLISA’s
charter and
a host city
will be chosen
for the 2nd
World Outgames.
GLISA is expecting
delegations
totaling about
50 people for
this first Congress.
They will be
received at
Montréal’s
City Hall by
the Mayor of
Montréal,
Mr. Gérald
Tremblay.

GALA
Choruses
From 1 to 4
September 2005,
representatives
of the 1st World
Outgames Montréal
2006 will attend
the GALA
Choruses
2005 Annual
Conference,
Touching
Hearts, Changing
Minds,
in Kansas City,
Missouri. It
will be the
perfect occasion
for the Outgames
to unveil details
on the Choral
Festival programme
and competition
formats. In
addition to
performances,
the Choral Festival
will feature
competitive
events in which
small, medium-sized
and large ensembles
will compete
for gold, silver
and bronze medals.
These choral
events will
be held at Place
des Arts, one
of the most
prestigious
and unique cultural
centres in Canada.
Registered groups
will perform
at the Salle
Maisonneuve
in Place des
Arts and will
have the rare
opportunity
to grow as artists
in an internationally
known and respected
professional
venue. An experience
not to be missed! |

Meeting
of the Scientific
Committee
The
second meeting
of the International
Scientific Committee
will be held
in Montréal
from 1 to 3
September 2005.
The Committee
will establish
the final programme
for the Conference
and will have
the pleasure
of announcing
several internationally
known and respected
keynote speakers.
Currently, almost
40 workshop
proposals have
been submitted
to the Conference
organizers.
The mayor of
Montréal,
Mr. Gérald
Tremblay, will
welcome the
members of the
International
Scientific Committee
during a reception
at City Hall.

2005
Monday,
25 July 2005,
the first Night
Parade of Divers/Cité
enchanted thousands
of spectators
along a new
route in the
Gay Village.
More
than one hundred
volunteers from
Montréal
2006 and 150
athletes and
singers from
Équipe
Montréal
took part in
the first unified
float of the
two organisations.

World Masters
Games
Montréal
2006 has an
information
booth on site
at the Edmonton
World Masters
Games, which
are being held
from 22 to 31
July 2005 in
Alberta, Canada.
Éric
Pineault, Outgames
Project Manager
for Promotions
and Communications,
and a team of
volunteers are
on hand to meet
athletes and
answer questions
about the Outgames.
With
27 sports open
to sports enthusiasts
throughout the
world, the World
Masters Games
are the largest
sport festival
on earth, with
some 23,000
people expected
from 82 countries
around the world.

2005 Championships

Atlanta, Georgia,
for the IGLA
2005 Championships
where Montréal
2006 is an Official
2005 IGLA sponsor.
The 2005 Championships
were held from
20 to 25 July
2005, and it
was the biggest
gay swimming
event of the
year featuring
swimming, diving,
water polo,
synchronized
swimming and
Pink Flamingo.
