Mexico
Registration Day: 60 Registered!
The LGBT sport movement
is really taking off in Mexico. That’s
why, on 16 April, Montréal 2006
held a Registration Day in Mexico in the
office of the Délégation
générale du Québec
in Mexico City. Our major partners in
Mexico, CAMP Magazine and E-Radio were
with us on this special day. More than
60 Mexican athletes have already registered
for the Outgames (Sydney had a delegation
of 19 Mexican athletes). EQUIPO MÉXICO,
under the coordination of Said Pulido,
expects to register about 100 athletes
from Mexico before the end of the year.

Colourful
Performances Planned for 2006
The
1st
World Outgames Montréal 2006 will
have you in the heart of the action! The
sport committees for figure skating, swimming
and Dancesport are preparing three shows
unlike anything you’ve ever seen!
The shows are scheduled for Friday and
Saturday, 4 and 5 August 2006, respectively,
at the Olympic Park and will provide a
colourful and dramatic finish to activities
in these three sport disciplines.
In Swimming, the Pink
Flamingo aquatic show will be making
a splash with dazzling and original performances
on Saturday 5 August 2006. The theme of
this first edition will be “FLAMBOYANT
/ OUTRAGEOUS”.
Dancesport
competitions will close with the Grand
Ball, which will feature dancers in special
performances under the theme of “Dance
in the Movies”. As well, you can
trip the light fantastic with Dancesport
champions after the show when everyone
will be invited to take to the dance floor
and experience the magic of the Outgames.
Figure skating has a special
treat in store when a group of professional
and amateur figure skaters take to the
ice for the “Showcase”.
The theme will be "Union and
Liberty". Part of the show will
also feature the medal winners of the
Outgames, in choreography under the artistic
direction of the Montréal Ice Ballet.
Three dates to mark in your
calendar! |

Partnerships:
Dragon Boat and Cycling
Montréal
2006 now has two new partners to assist
in the preparations of the Outgames: the
Festival international de bateau dragon
de Montréal (FIBDM) and
the Mondial
du vélo.
The FIBDM, well-known for
its popular annual international competition
that brings together more than 3,500 athletes,
never fails to organise its events with
a decidedly festive atmosphere. This partnership
assures the Outgames of well-organised
competitions and an unforgettable experience.
The Dragon Boat competitions will be another
first in the history of LGBT sport.
The Mondial du
vélo is renowned in the international
cycling community for its organisation
of major cycling events in road racing,
track racing, world cups in mountain biking,
Canadian cycling championships and the
management of a national training centre
in Bromont, Québec. This partnership
is an important addition to the Outgames
sports team and participants are sure
to enjoy quality competitions in cycling.

Swimming
and Diving
The Outgames are proud to
enjoy the support and tireless commitment
of À
Contre-Courant (ACC), Montréal's
gay and lesbian masters' swim club. ACC
is a member of IGLA
and has already hosted the IGLA Championships,
which was a great success.
Finally, our family
is growing with the addition of the CAMO
Diving Club of Montréal to
the Diving Committee of the Outgames.
CAMO is one of the pillars in the development
of sport in Canada, with member athletes
like Émilie Heyman and Alexandre
Despatie. It brings invaluable expertise
to the table, and its contribution will
be key in organising top-quality competitions
at the Claude-Robillard Centre, which
is also where the club trains and where
the national diving centre is located.

Western Dance, Square
Dance, and the Choral
Festival will play a special role
in the Opening or Closing Ceremonies as
part of a group choreography presentation.
This performance before 55,000 spectators
at the Olympic Stadium will be the first
time in the history of the LGBT movement
that such a performance will be broadcast
to the general public around the world
when Radio Canada, Canada's National Public
Broadcaster, televises the ceremonies,
which will then be re-broadcast around
the world throughout its international
network.
