OVERVIEW
Dancesport competitions will take place over four days, followed by a Grand Ball. The competition will be open to dancers of all ages and all levels, and to wheelchair participants.

RULES
Rules of Equality Dance will be used for same-gender competitions.

AFFILIATION | MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
There are no affiliation or membership requirements for this event

COMPETITION FORMAT
The dance styles represented will be:

Levels
Participants in each category must choose their level (A, B, C, D). A classification event will be held on the first day of the event to confirm that participants have selected the correct levels. Since certain couples may be moved to another level, participants are asked to prepare the dances required in the level above the one they have chosen.

Levels are ranked from A (strongest) to D:

Level A Participants with extensive competitive experience
Level B Participants with some competitive experience
Level C Recreational level participants
Level D Beginners

Participants will perform the number of dances required for their level.

AGE CATEGORIES

Male Couples
18 - 39
Participants must be 18 years or over.
Female Couples 18 - 39
Mixed Couples 18 - 39
 
Male Couples 40+ Participants aged 40 years or over may, if they wish, register in the 18-39 category. To calculate a couple's age, the total age of the two partners will be divided by two. In this category, the result must be equal to or greater than 40.

Male Couples Wheelchair For the wheelchair category, a couple is composed of one wheelchair dancer and one standing dancer.

ACCREDITATION
During the accreditation, participants from Canada will be required to show government-issued identification with a photo. For athletes from all other countries, a passport will be the preferred form of identification. Furthermore, every participant will be required to provide his or her participant number.


MEDALS
Every participant in the 1
st World Outgames Montréal 2006 will receive a participation medal. In recognition of personal achievement, there will also be medals awarded for first, second and third place in each of the divisions listed above.
