Information (the «Confidentiality Policy»). This

Policy
Important: by using this Site, you agree to the
collection and use of your Personal Information
by Rendez-Vous MONTRÉAL 2006 Organizing Committee
in accordance with the terms of this policy. Please
take the time to read this document.
MONTRÉAL 2006 may modify this Confidentiality
Policy to adapt to any new technological or legal
environment, or simply to adjust to changes made
to our Site. All updates to our Confidentiality
Policy will be posted on this page. By continuing
to use this Site after we post any changes you
are consenting to our use of your information
as provided in the modified policy.
This Confidentiality Policy will inform you about
the way the Personal Information you give us will
be used, processed and communicated. When visiting
the Site, you are subject to responsibilities.
We invite you to read our Site User
Conditions. The same terminology applies to
this Confidentiality Policy, to lighten the text.
MONTRÉAL 2006 respects your privacy and seeks
to protect your personal Information.
What is Personal Information?
Personal information identifies
you as a physical person: name, postal address,
telephone number, fax number, e-mail address,
date of birth etc. («Personal Information»).
There is also other identification information,
which is generated by your computer and may identify
your computer. We automatically collect this information
when you visit the Site. This information allows
MONTRÉAL 2006 to evaluate the number of people
visiting our Site for statistics purposes only
and does not allow us to identify you.
Why do we collect Personal Information?
- To understand your needs and
provide the services offered to you on our Site
(for example, to verify your personal registration
as a Club Montréal 2006 member);
- To design, maintain, manage,
improve, market and provide products and services
on our Site;
- To organize contests or other
promotional activities;
- To register participants to the
MONTRÉAL 2006 Games;
- To register volunteers, local
hosts, media, officials;
- To provide you with information
about MONTRÉAL 2006, its products, programs

How we collect Personal Information
that identifies you
To become a Club Montréal 2006 member
or register for the Games, you must provide your
name, e-mail address, postal code, password, and
other information that we may request. This information
remains with MONTRÉAL 2006 Organizing Committee;
it is not given to any third parties, unless as
otherwise provided for in the present Confidentiality
Policy.
In this way, you personally identify yourself
when you visit the pages of Club Montréal 2006
or registration, by becoming a member of Club
Montréal 2006 or a registered Participant or by
using some of its services, and when you participate
in promotions and contests of MONTRÉAL 2006, YOU
AGREE TO PROVIDE US WITH THIS INFORMATION VOLUNTARILY.
Cookies, or How we collect electronic Personal
Information
When you visit certain pages of
our Site, our servers send you cookies. Our servers
also record your IP address (IP stands for Internet
Protocol, a number that locates you in cyberspace)
and the web pages you have visited. This electronic
Personal Information is transmitted to us automatically.
What is a cookie? A cookie is a small file transmitted
by the Site's server to your browser. This file
is saved, for a limited period of time, on your

Cookies allow us to retain important information:

You don't want to receive cookies?

2006 services that require registration or register

Web bugs
Currently, MONTRÉAL 2006 does not
collect Personal Information using web bugs or
codes that are part of some Internet pages that
allow surfers' "tracks" to be followed. MONTRÉAL
2006 may use this technology in the future, in
which case, you will be duly informed by an amendment
to the Confidentiality Policy.
How we use, communicate and save your Personal
Information
MONTRÉAL 2006 uses Personal Information
collected through its Site to respond to your
requests for certain services (for example, a
Club Montréal 2006 registration) and to send you
specific information, in the proper language,
about MONTRÉAL 2006 and the games.
Your IP address and your e-mail address can be
used for various purposes, including:
- to estimate the number of web
surfers in certain countries or regions of the
world that visit Club Montréal 2006;
- to fix Internet service problems
pointed out by our users or by our information
technologies supervisors;
- to send you information and updates
about activities, privileges, promotional offers,
products and services offered by MONTRÉAL 2006,
its partners or its sponsors.

by organizations other than MONTRÉAL 2006
The Site contains Content provided by companies
and organizations that are unrelated and independent
from MONTRÉAL 2006. These companies and organizations

that may differ from those of MONTRÉAL 2006.

these companies and organizations, MONTRÉAL 2006

MONTRÉAL 2006 saves Personal Information
only during the period when it is necessary or
useful, or as per the requirements of AN ACT RESPECTING
THE PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION IN THE
PRIVATE SECTOR. MONTRÉAL 2006 has established
conservation and destruction measures for Personal
Information that is no longer necessary or required
by law.
Your Personal Information will not be shared with
anyone without your consent, save the following
exceptions:
- All organizations or entities
controlled by MONTRÉAL 2006, or that control
MONTRÉAL 2006;
- To satisfy regulatory or legal
requirements;
- Our affiliated organizations
and entities, if the Personal Information could
serve to improve the quality of the services
they offer;
- The EGLSF European Gay and Lesbian
Sports Federation; in the promotion of it's
activities;
- If your behaviour on our Site
violates our User
Conditions.
Who controls your Personal
Information?
Your information is managed by MONTRÉAL
2006 customer service employees in Montreal. You
may contact them at any time, by mail, by telephone
or by using the Contact Us section of the Site.
A customer service representative may contact
you to verify and correct, if necessary, the Personal
Information you have provided.
Our Personal Information protection policy is
subject to the Site's User
Conditions.

Recruitment Information
If you submit Personal Information,
including your résumé, through the MONTRÉAL 2006
recruitment section, the following additional
conditions apply, and by submitting the information
you agree to these conditions:
- We may use any information
that you supply to us throughout MONTRÉAL 2006's
Team and our related entities, for the purpose
of employment consideration or response to your
inquiry, as well as providing the information
to third parties who work with us and who might
consider you for employment or be able to respond
to your inquiry.
- We may choose to contact
former employers and/or references and/or verify
information provided to us by you, with or without
providing advance notice to you.
- After an offer of employment
is made, we may request that you submit verification
of your legal right to work in the location
of employment. The offer will also be conditional
on your having such right, as well as additional
reasonable information and authorizations MONTRÉAL
2006 may require, at its sole discretion, in
order to complete and validate the said offer.
Sites Hosted by Third
Parties
The Site's Confidentiality Policy
applies only to information collected or submitted
on this Site. The Site contains links to certain
External Sites which are hosted by third party
providers or other third parties and which are
not subject to this Confidentiality Policy or
to other MONTRÉAL 2006 Policies.
Some of those External Sites may have an interface
that may appear similar to that used by MONTRÉAL
2006. Those External Sites may send cookies to
you and solicit or collect information from you.
When you submit information to those External
Sites, you are subject to the policies of the
External Sites and their hosts. We encourage you
to read the policies of each External Sites that
collects Personal Information.
Security
We take security measures to
protect your information. All of your information
is restricted in our offices. Only MONTRÉAL 2006
staff who need the information to perform a specific
task are granted access to your Personal Information.
Our staff must enter passwords to access this
information. Furthermore, the servers on which
we store Personal Information are kept in a secure
facility. This Site has security measures in place
to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of
the information under MONTRÉAL 2006 control. The
secure server software (SSL) is considered by
MONTRÉAL 2006 as the industry standard and among
the best software available today for secure commerce
transactions. It encrypts all of your Personal
Information, including credit or debit card number,
name, and address, so that it cannot be read as
the information travels over the Internet.
Subject to Access Providers Policy
We remind you that you are subject to our providers'
policies when you are on our providers' websites.
MONTRÉAL 2006 will not provide notice of changes
of any of our providers' policies; we encourage
you to review those policies regularly.
When We May Disclose Your Personal Information
We may disclose your Personal
information when we believe in good faith, that
such disclosure is necessary to identify, contact
in view of a legal action or bring such legal
action against someone who may be causing prejudice
to or interference with (either intentionally
or unintentionally) our rights or property, or
the rights or property of our users. We may also
disclose your information when we believe in good
faith that the law requires such disclosure, including
exchanging information with other companies, authorities
and organisations, for fraud protection purposes.
