Swimming will be one of the largest events in
the 1st
World Outgames Montréal 2006 sport programme.
Competitions will welcome a maximum of 1500 swimmers
— register early to reserve your place!
Participants may register
in a maximum of six individual events, excluding
relays.

The competition will be sanctioned by the Fédération
de natation du Québec (FNQ), a member
of FINA.
Swimming
/ Natation Canada (SNC) rules will be used.
All participants must be a
members of a FINA-affiliated
federation and must be at least 18 years of age
on 30 July 2006. Proof of membership will be required
during accreditation.
RELAY EVENTS
To be eligible for relays,
swimmers must have registered for at least one
individual event during the meet. Teams must be
composed of members from the same club. A mixed
team relay must be composed of two men and two
women.
Please be sure to enter your club’s
code when registering online.
PROGRAMME SEQUENCE
With the exception of
the 800-metre and 1500-metre freestyle events,
all individual events will be pre-seeded from
slowest to fastest based on submitted times, regardless
of age or gender.
800-METRE AND 1500-METRE
FREESTYLE EVENTS
Confirmation of presence
with the clerk of course will be required on-site
before 8:30 on the day of the event. The events
will be deck-seeded, from the slowest to the fastest,
regardless of age. The Meet Direction Committee
reserves the right to place two swimmers of the
same gender per lane.
TIME SUBMITTED
Swimmers must provide their
time for a 50-metre pool. Registration without
time entries will be accepted and swimmers will
be seeded at the beginning of each event. Relay
teams must submit a seedtime if they wish to be
seeded according to time.
More details on the system to be
used will be available at a later date.
TIMING
Electronic timekeeping will
be used and supported by a semi-automatic timing
system. Manual timing will be used in certain
events.
WARM-UP PROCEDURES
SNC
warm-up procedures will apply throughout the competitions.
FNQ pool security rules will also be used.
Participants' ages will be
determined by their age on 31 December
2006.

in April 2006. Competitions are currently planned
to begin at 8:30 each day and continue until the

During the accreditation, participants from Canada will be required to show government-issued identification with a photo. For athletes from all other countries, a passport will be the preferred form of identification. Furthermore, every participant will be required to provide his or her participant number.

Every participant in the 1st
World Outgames Montréal 2006 will receive
a participation medal. In recognition of personal
achievement in swimming, there will also be medals
awarded for first, second and third place in each
of the divisions and age categories listed above.
Outsplash! is
a spectacular aquatic show and competition under
the rainbow colours under the theme "FLAMBOYANT
/ OUTRAGEOUS". All participants
registered in an aquatic sport are invited to
register in the team competition for free.

The competitions will be held in a 50-metre pool
with ten lanes at the Olympic pools in the Centre
sportif, located at the base of the Olympic Tower.
This will be the location for several sport events,
making it a key venue, filled with activity. Warm-up
facilities will be available throughout the day
in an adjoining 50-metre pool with five lanes.
